Who We Are

Sustainable CT is a vibrant organization that inspires, supports, and celebrates actions that make Connecticut communities great places to live for all. Our major program areas include: direct support to towns and a comprehensive road map of sustainability actions; funding for community-led sustainability projects through the Community Match Fund; and a certification program to recognize communities’ achievements.

We believe that local communities know best what their city, town, or neighborhood needs and that they are best suited to develop solutions to meet those needs. We work to empower and support residents and community leaders to innovate, engage others, and implement positive change to improve their communities for all residents.

Sustainable CT is growing as an organization and in our understanding of racism and the systems that perpetuate injustice. We understand that current systems can limit opportunity for marginalized communities to shape their environment and access resources. We recognize that we need to actively grow and welcome new voices in our organization. We value the insights and perspective that a diverse team brings to the complex challenges of creating healthy communities across Connecticut. We seek to expand the diversity of our team and we have dedicated resources and support for professional development and team building to ensure the success of the new hire in this role. We are a 501c3 charitable organization that relies completely on grant funding.  Please contact us if you seek accommodation in order to apply for this position.

This Position

The Community Organizer and Partnership Manager will serve as a connector, community organizer, and partnership builder with opportunities to integrate sustainability and social justice in Sustainable CT’s work.  The Community Organizer and Partnership Manager will: engage with communities across Connecticut; strengthen our existing networks and develop new ones; guide residents to create sustainable and equitable solutions that provide opportunities for all to thrive; and build relationships between residents and municipal leaders within towns and across town borders.

A key component of this work will be leading our Community Match Fund (CMF).  The CMF is an innovative funding program that seeks to shift power dynamics within philanthropy and support community-led projects that improve the quality of life in Connecticut towns and cities.
