This is the April meeting of Connecticut's Equity in Data Community of Practice. It is open to anyone who works with data that is interested in this topic.
In March CTData hosted a session with the Urban Institute on their report, Principles for Advancing Equitable Data Practice. In April, CT's Equity in Data Community of Practice will be bringing examples from our own work so we can continue to learn how to apply these principles.
When you sign up for this session you will receive a recording so you can catch up with what you've missed. You can also access the report here.
About this group:
Connecticut's Equity in Data Community of Practice are a group of data users in Connecticut who are supporting one another as they work toward more equitable data practices. They focus on racial equity explicitly but not exclusively.
Learn more about the Equity in Data Community of Practice here.
Some of the topics will include:
- How can we make sure we don't make certain groups invisible through how we disaggregate our data?
- How can we learn to focus our attention on the strengths, rather than the deficits, of groups we are seeking to serve or support?
- How can we learn from the people who we hope will benefit from our products or services about what their data means to them?
- How can we help the institutions that we are part of to be trustworthy so that people will trust us with their information/data?
Please feel free to come to the session even if you've never been before. And if it is helpful, please share it!
