Social Drivers of Health: Introduction and Application

This course is open to Connecticut audiences.

This engaging, interactive course from Health Resources in Action (HRiA) will focus on understanding social drivers (determinants) of health and examining their impacts on segments within CT communities. Using group discussion, participants will gain insight and dive deeper into their professional work using the social drivers of health and health equity frameworks. NOTE: A follow up training on social drivers and racial equity will be offered on Thursday, November 18 from 11 am to 2 pm. See TRAIN course ID 1100198.

Instructor: Mo Mo Barbosa, Senior Director of Community Engagement, Health Resources in Action Mo was previously the Program Coordinator for the Fellowship Center in St. Louis, MO and Director of the Area 4 Youth Center in Cambridge, MA. Mo delivers training, provides technical assistance and participates in field-building initiatives. He promotes the professionalization of the youth-worker field through work on legislation, youth worker networks, and partnerships with higher education. As a trainer, Mo builds the skills of participants while keeping connections to theory. A long-time facilitator of community processes, he works with gangs, parents, youth, political organizations, tenant councils, and community resident groups.
