Compliance Guidelines
- Each municipality is required to obtain all necessary permits and approvals prior to commencing any work for which such municipality is seeking certification or funding from Sustainable CT.
- Each municipality seeking certification or funding from Sustainable CT shall not purchase any plant/vegetation that is on the State of Connecticut invasive plant list.
- Each municipality seeking certification or funding from Sustainable CT is required to ensure that all invasive plant species are disposed of in accordance with the Guidelines for Disposal of Terrestrial Invasive Plants collaboratively developed by the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the University of Connecticut, and the Connecticut Invasive Plant Working Group.
- Each municipality seeking certification or funding from Sustainable CT is required to ensure that any work performed shall “not threaten the continued existence of any endangered or threatened species” as defined in C.G.S. § 26-304.
- Each municipality seeking certification or funding from Sustainable CT is required to ensure that all wastes, materials and/or contaminated water generated from the proposed Project are properly evaluated and if determined hazardous, are disposed of in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. This shall include, but is not limited to, properly determining if any waste(s) generated from the Project constitute hazardous wastes as defined by C.G.S. § 22a-115(1).
- Each municipality seeking certification or funding from Sustainable CT is required to utilize proper methods to protect surface and groundwater.
- Each municipality seeking certification or funding from Sustainable CT shall ensure that all work being performed is of a nature that will minimize maintenance and ensure public safety.
- Municipalities shall not commence any work until all required local, state, and federal permits and approvals have been obtained.
- Municipalities must have ownership or obtain all necessary easements and/or rights-of-way or confirm that such easements and/or rights-of-way are not required prior to commencing any work.
