Join Our Earth Month Tours


We're acknowledging and celebrating Earth Day throughout the month of April, and you can join us for one - or all - of our Earth Month tours. Instructive, immersive, and inspiring - these tours will help define the meaning of Earth Day and provide practical, real world information you can use to improve sustainability and build resilience in your community.


Register for each tour you wish to attend:
 

Newtown ASP Tour

Join us on April 14th for a tour of the Aerated Static Pile (ASP) composting site, located in Newtown. The tour starts at 10am at Newtown Public Works for a half hour presentation of how the program originated and expanded. Then, we will drive to the ASP site for a tour and review (transportation is not provided). Attendance is capped at 20, so please sign up only if you intend to participate for the duration of the tour.

Stonington CIRCA Resilient Mystic Project

Join us for a walking tour of Mystic to discuss the Connecticut Institute for Resilience & Climate Adaption (CIRCA) Resilient Mystic project. The Resilient Mystic project identifies different ways that Mystic can adapt to rising water, including physical interventions, planning efforts, policy changes, and zoning modifications in the near-, mid- and long-term. This project will establish a resilient corridor; an area prioritized for safe egress, co-location of emergency services, redundant power, water supply, and the co-location of other resilience services. Attendance is capped at 35.

UConn Low Impact Development Project

Join us for our final Earth Month Tour of UConn’s Low Impact Development Project. Guests will learn more about storm water pollution, green storm water infrastructure, and overall best practices for targeting water quality and flooding within municipalities. Registration is capped at 30. Parking will be available at the North Campus Garage. There is a parking fee of $2 per hour for one-to-three hours of parking. More information about North Campus parking is available HERE.
