Sustainable CT Community Match Fund
Sustainable CT's Community Match Fund is an innovative program that provides fast, flexible funding to support sustainability-related projects throughout Connecticut.
Have an idea to make your community more sustainable, equitable, and vibrant? The Community Match Fund provides dollar-for-dollar matching funds, up to $15,000 per project, for work that broadly aligns with Sustainable CT actions. Every project will help your municipality earn points towards certification!
Since the Match Fund’s launch in September of 2019 Sustainable CT has helped launch more than 40 projects in 30+ municipalities, which have raised over $400,000! These projects span the sustainability spectrum, and have focused on things like:
|Improving Energy Efficiency||Healthy and Sustainable Food Systems||Environmental Education|
|Community Gardens||Tree Plantings||Public Art|
|Pollinator Pathways||Forestry Management||Composting & Food Waste Diversion|
|Sustainable Transportation||Complete Streets|
Land and Waterbody Conservation
|And much, much more...|
Anyone in a Sustainable CT registered municipality can participate in this program, meaning that municipalities themselves, schools, libraries, nonprofits, community groups, and even individual residents can all propose a project and access the funding. There are no application deadlines, just a short project proposal to fill out, a quick 5-day review period, and minimal reporting requirements.
The Match Fund was designed to support community-driven projects that foster resident engagement and build collaboration between residents and their local government. With those goals in mind, we’ve partnered with ioby (“in our backyards”), a non-profit, civic oriented crowdfunding organization, that provides fundraising coaching and support, and an online fundraising platform to help all project leaders publicize their work and fundraise for their project. Sustainable CT provides a live match to every donation a project receives through ioby’s platform, immediately doubling local investment.

We review projects on a rolling basis and we look forward to continuing to support important work that benefits Connecticut communities. Contact Abe Hilding-Salorio, our Community Outreach Manager, at (860) 465-0256 for more information or to start your own project.
