Shelter Diversion 2.0 Training

January 25, 2022 - 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Join the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness for this advanced diversion training that will thoroughly discuss the practice of shelter diversion, with an emphasis on how to have efficient and effective diversion conversions in a person-centered, trauma-informed, and housing-focused way. During this training experts will also focus on the importance of problem solving, diversion funding, documentation, and linkage to services and community resources. Shelter Diversion is a practice that all should be skilled in as it is a strategy that prevents homelessness at the front door by helping people identify immediate alternative housing arrangements to shelter and, if necessary, connecting them with services and financial assistance to help them return to permanent housing. Diversion can reduce the number of households becoming homeless, the demand for shelter beds, and the size of program wait lists. This training is directed to direct-service/ case management staff and is ideal for anyone that works within our homeless response system.

*This training will be very interactive, please be prepared to be in a quiet location that allows for you to have your camera on so you can fully engage in the training.
